The London Loop: reaching the outer limit - Stage 10

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

A30 (Hatton Cross Station) to Hayes and Harlington: 3.5 miles (5.6 km)

Trail landmarks:

  • Cranford Park - nestled amongst housing estates, the duckboard and gravel pathways twist alongside the river Crane and provide a welcome escape from the noisy aircraft descending overhead into Heathrow Airport.

  • St. Dunstans Church - 16th Century Church and Stables, the leftovers of Cranford House, mark the end of Cranford Park having opened out into grassy meadows by this point. The Car Park is the starting point of the Hillingdon 20 mile Trail which both paths share briefly once through the M4 subway.

  • The Grand Union Canal - a short urban section which follows the A312 adjacent to Bull's Bridge Junction, heads over the Canal to lead down to canalside via an imposing set of pedestrian and cycle ramps. The Grand Union Canal is 137 miles in length and comprises of many branches and waterways principally linking Birmingham to Brentford and the River Thames. The final 1 mile leg of this section provides for some very tranquil walking characterised with the juxtaposition of both 19th century and modern glass architecture, and both concrete and cast iron road and rail bridges.
