South Kenton to Hendon Park - 6.2 miles (10 km)
Leaving the station subway, the walk leads on through to delightful Preston Park and into Preston itself. Bearing left up West Hill and onto Uxendon Hill, an alleyway provides access to the secluded track to enter Fryent Country Park. Potentially wet and boggy on the low meadows, the western, wooded side of the park hosts Barn Hill (85m) with spectacular views of West London including Wembley Stadium. After the descent and crossing the Fryent Way, the path enters the eastern side characterised more by low lying fields and meadows. Here the well marked route follows hedgerows to eventually find the Park exit and entry into Kingsbury where a short urban section passes St Andrew’s church before finally coming alongside the great Brent Reservoir. One of the largest sheets of water in Greater London, it is also a naturalist’s haven, with many species of bird and moth. The final urban leg of this section crosses into Hendon, over railway and the M1 motorway and under the A41 to eventually finish in Hendon Park, via an old Northern Line footbridge.
